Jennifer on set with co-stars Jane Kean and Ted Monte
I started filming “Abner”, a new Independent Feature Film on November 18th. “Abner” is a kids movie and I have been cast as the mother of the lead character. The first day of filming I met my co-stars, Ted Monte and Jane Kean. What an honor to work with both of them. Jane Kean was a series regular on “The Jackie Gleason Show”, starred in Pete’s Dragon (a personal fav when I was a kid) and has a resume that spans decades. Ted Monte plays my husband in the film and he has also been working for years. Both actors were really nice and funny. It was a great way to start my 5 day shoot!
I booked a role in an Independent Feature Film! I start on Sunday and shoot 6 days over the next week and a half. I am very excited. Details will follow. Keep checking back!

The “Wedding Day” Film Premiere and Red Carpet Event was Monday night! It was such an exciting night. “Wedding Day” is an Independent Feature Film that I worked on in 2010 and 2011. I have worked on a number of short films in the past few years, but this is my first leading role in a full length feature film. This was a big night for me.
I bought a new dress from White House/Black Market for the event. I spend an hour getting ready, making sure my hair and make up looked just right. And finally, I was ready to drive into Hollywood for the Premiere.
When I arrived I was escorted to the red carpet and was photographed by about 10 different photographers. Next I was interviewed about the film. Afterwards I was able to catch up with the cast and directors of “Wedding Day” in the lobby, many of which I haven’t seen since we first started filming in 2010. To learn more about the cast, visit http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1562918/.
After all the actors walked the red carpet and were interviewed, we were escorted into the screening room to watch the film It looked great! There will be a limited theatrical release soon. Keep checking back for details.

On December 5th and 6th I worked on a “hush, hush” Independent Film. It was great to work on such a professional project. My scenes were rich with possibilities and gave me a lot to play with. I worked with a wonderful director and my fellow cast members were top-notch actors. And I had my own star-wagon trailer, how can you go wrong with that?
It is a lucky day when I have the opportunity to act on-screen. All the auditions, the driving all over LA, the ups and downs of the Industry are worth it when I’m actually on set….doing the work….doing what I love.
On Sunday we finished shooting “Wedding Day”, an indie feature film. “Wedding Day” is a multi-character and storyline feature in the vein of “Valentine’s Day” that centers around 2 couples getting married and the catering company hired for both weddings.
I play Brooke Mason, a bride-to-be from an affluent family. We shot the scene between Brooke and her Therapist (Tom Tangen).
Here are a couple of photos from the shoot:

Today was re-shot the opening scene in “Wedding Day”. In this scene the audience is introduced to Brooke and Cody (played by Brandon Molale) the morning of their wedding. We also shot a scene where Brooke is on the phone with the catering company.

On Friday I completed Day Three of filming the independent feature film “Wedding Day”. “Wedding Day” is a multi-character and storyline feature in the vein of “Valentine’s Day” that centers around 2 couples getting married and the catering company hired for both weddings.
I play Brooke Mason, a bride-to-be from an affluent family. Today we shot Brooke and Cody’s (played by Brandon Molale) wedding ceremony at Oneonta Congregational Church in South Pasadena, CA. We also shot a scene between Brooke and the Mason family, which takes place right before the wedding ceremony is scheduled to start.
Here are a couple of photos from the shoot today:

Today I completed Day Two of filming the indie feature film “Wedding Day”. I play one of two brides getting married in the film. In this scene my character, Brooke Mason, is leaning on her college sorority sister, Beverly (played by Natalie Howe) to coordinate her wedding. Brooke has stopped by the reception location to speak with Beverly.
Here I am on set with my co-star:

There have been some cast changes in “Wedding Day”. I have learned that Daniel Long, who plays my fiance Cody, has stepped away from the project. The new Cody is Brandon Molale, known for his roles in” Dodgeball” and “Mr. Deeds”. I will be meeting Brandon Molale on Friday for our Wedding scenes.
Yesterday I completed Day One of filming the feature film “Wedding Day”. “Wedding Day” is a multi-character and storyline feature in the vein of “Crash” that centers around 2 couples getting married and the catering company hired for both weddings.
I play Brooke Mason, a bride-to-be from an affluent family. Today we shot the opening scene where the audience is introduced to Brooke and Cody (played by Daniel Long)the morning of their wedding.

Filming for “Wedding Day” the feature film is gearing up to start on July 8th. Day One of filming starts with the scenes between my character Brooke and her fiance Cody. Today I coached with Christinna Chauncey. I have been studying with Christinna for over a year and I really respect her. I felt great about the work that we did today and I look forward to the big shoot on Thursday.
Today I went location scouting with the team of “Wedding Day”, a SAG indie feature with celebrity cast members and distribution already in place. Specifically, we scouted locations at Oneonta Congregational Church. We are scouting the church and other buildings on campus for the wedding scene with my character Brooke and fiance Cody, as well as the majority of scenes for our celebrity actor.
I knew Oneonta would be a perfect location, so I was excited to give a tour of the church to the Wedding Day team. And sure enough, they loved it as well. Check out our facebook page for photos:
Today I had a callback for ”The Warm Up Guy”, a indie film being cast by Big House Casting.
I was called back for the role of Carol, a sweet, pregnant wife. The only lovable character in a dysfunctional family. I read with the actor who would be playing the role of my husband. In the audition we were asked to improvise. I thought it went well. I left the callback feeling really happy with my performance.
Wow! What a day. Today I had three auditions. Lucky me!
First I had a commercial audition at Ross Lacy Casting. Today’s product was Olive Garden. The attire: casual with a white button down shirt. I arrived at 200 S. La Brea and signed in for my audition. I read the sides and really liked the character. Good audition!
Next I drove over to CAZT to audition for a webisode called “Insatiable”, which was described as “Twilight meets Twin Peaks”. I auditioned for the role of Abby, a superficial, small town real estate agent with an agenda.
Lastly I had an audition at Big House Casting in Studio City for an indie film. I auditioned for the role of Carol, a sweet, pregnant wife. The only lovable character in a dysfunctional family.
Today I had an audition for a short film called “Anything Can Happen”. I auditioned for the role of Nicole who is described as “a woman who is a fairly successful B list actress but is trying to transition into bigger projects/roles. Pretty, pretentious and snappy but also has a sweet, insecure side.”
I arrived for auditions at CAZT for my 11AM time slot. I received the sides prior to the audition, had made my character choices, and was ready for the audition. When it was my turn to audition I met with the Casting Director, Jessica Sherman, who gave me a warm welcome. I was given a couple of notes before I started the scene and then we started. The audition was just one take, but I felt good about my choices.
Today I had an audition for an indie feature film called “Dick Little”. I auditioned for the role of Amy.
I arrived for auditions at CAZT for my afternoon audition and picked up the sides, which were not available prior. I read over the material and it was so sweet. A fun little romantic comedy. When it was my turn, I received a very warm welcome from the Director. I read through the scene with the reader and I felt really good about it!
An acting reel is a collection of scenes from different project an actor has worked on. Here is my newly updated acting reel, which includes scenes from “Milk” – a NYFA Thesis Film, “A Simple Conversation” – an AFI Film, “Cavemen Crib Party” – a webisode, and 2 national commercials. I am really pleased with how it turned out. I hope you enjoy it.
Today I found out that ”A Simple Conversation” has been posted on IMDB. “A Simple Conversation” is a really great AFI Film that I shot last fall.
Check out my IMDB page at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2641302/. Not all short films are posted on IMDB, so a lot of projects that I have worked on are not listed, which is why I am excited that “A Simple Conversation” has been updated!
Today I had a rehearsal for “Wedding Day”, an indie film I am working on. “Wedding Day” is a SAG feature with celebrity cast members and distribution already in place.
I play Brooke Mason, one of two brides who is getting married in the film. This morning we worked on two scenes in the script. First we worked on a scene between my character, Brooke, and the Mason family which takes place before the wedding ceremony. Next we rehearsed a scene between Brooke and her wedding planner, Beverly Blessing (played by Natalie Howe).
I am really excited to start filming over the summer! Check out my IMDB page for more info on the film: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2641302/ and enjoy a photo from the rehearsal.
Today I had an audition for an indie feature film called “Skeletons in the Closet”. The film is projected to shoot in September. I auditioned for Alexandra who is described as “beautiful, slender and in shape, young mother of two children. She is a Psychic for the NYPD who helps on serial murder cases.”
I arrived for auditions at the Space Station Casting Studios in Hollywood for my 5PM time slot. I received the sides prior to the audition, had made my character choices, and was ready for the audition. When it was my turn to audition I met with the writer/director/producer Chloe Finch and producer Penny Mackie.
Overall the audition went well. Thanks to Chloe Finch for calling me in to audition
Today I had another rehearsal for the indie feature film “Wedding Day”. I play Brooke Mason, one of two brides who is getting married in the film. The scene we worked on this morning was between my character, Brooke and her Therapist (Tom Tangen). We worked out a lot of good stuff in rehearsal. I am really looking forward to start filming over the summer.
On Thursday night I attended “Projections: A Short Film Festival” put together by fellow Ball State Alum, James E. Roberts. The screening showcased a film he co-wrote and produced called “Long Awaited”, along with two other short films. The event took place at the Marriott Marina Del Rey and was hosted by Ball State Alumni Doug Jones (Legion, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy 1&2).

Today I had a rehearsal for the indie feature “Wedding Day”. The cast is working hard to make sure this project is a complete success. The scene we worked on this morning was between my character, Brooke, and Beverly (played by Natalie Howe), the wedding coordinator and my college friend. Rehearsal went great!
The Casting Team of “Wedding Day” facilitated a workshop with the Casting Director for the film, Lindsay Bellock. Lindsay is also a Casting Associate for Beth Holmes Casting. “Wedding Day” is a SAG feature shooting over the Summer with celebrity cast members and distribution already in place.
Lindsay passed out sides prior to the workshop. She gave me GREAT sides from a pilot she cast earlier this year called Maggie Hill. I played the character of Caroline, which was a good character for me. I felt really good about my read, I just hope I made a favorable impression on Lindsay. I thought she was great.
Today I had a rehearsal for an indie feature film that I am working on called “Wedding Day”. The cast is working diligently to assure this project is a success. The scene we worked on this afternoon was between my character, Brooke and my fiance Cody (Daniel Richardson). Rehearsal went really well!
Keep checking back for updates on our rehearsals, as well as dates for filming. Also, check out my IMDB page for more info on the film: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2641302/.
Last night was the screening of the short film ”A Simple Conversation” at The American Film Institute (AFI). I played Kitty Olsen, the lead in this film. “A Simple Conversation” was screened twice that evening and I attended the 7 PM Screening. It was great to see Director Jon Clark and Writer/Producer Kristina Monson again, as well as a number of cast and crew members.
I was pleased with the final outcome of the film. Kristina said that the film will be submitted to the Sundance Film Festival, as well as a number of other film festivals, which is very exciting. Overall, this was a great evening!

The Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) is a website that tracks film and television projects that actors have worked on. Today I found out that ”Wedding Day”, the Independent Film that I am working on, has been posted on the site. “Wedding Day” is a SAG feature shooting in late March/early April with celebrity cast members and distribution already in place.
Check out the film on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2641302/. Not all short films are posted on IMDB, so a lot of projects that I have worked on are not listed, which is why I am excited that “Wedding Day” has been updated!
Exciting News! “A Simple Conversation”, a short AFI Film that I worked on, will be premiering on Friday, December 18, 2009. There will be 2 screening times, 7 PM and 8 PM, both at AFI in Los Angeles, CA.
This morning I attended a table reading for a film script as a part of the Elements Film Project. The Film has been named “Wedding Day”. Our group has worked hard on the script and the lead writing team did an excellent job weaving the storylines together into one script.
The table read went great! It was exciting to hear the characters come to life. Now the lead writing team is going back to the drawing boards to make a couple changes to tighten up the script. Filming is projected to start sometime in February.
Here is a photo our group, founded by writer/director/producer, Patrick Durham.
This morning I attended a writers meeting for the Elements Film Project. The concept: to bring together a group of talented people to create an independent film. The group is founded by writer/director/producer, Patrick Durham.
The group discussed the script and available locations that we have access to for filming, which will begin next year. I missed the first half of the meeting because of work, but the second half of the meeting has me very excited.
There will be a table read on December 1st! Check back for details.
First audition was a commercial audition. Dan Cowan at Broadcast called me in to audition for “Expedia”. This is a great spot and I felt really good about my audition, so I am really keeping my fingers crossed for this one.
Next I was off to Bass Casting in West Hollywood to audition for a short film. The best thing is that I met Lauren Bass at a casting workshop a couple months ago and she called me in for this audition. I’m not sure if this is the best role for me, but I did my best at the audition and I hope that Lauren will call me in again.
Overall, today was a great day. I love having one audition in a day, let alone two! That’s the life of a working actress!
Day Two of ”A Simple Conversation”. Another 7am call time, another cold day. Today we jumped right into filming. We picked up a couple of close ups, but really the creative team wants one continuous shot for the entire film. We shot the film over and over, 30 takes I believe.
Here is a shot of my co-star, Anthony, and I in between takes. Check our “wedding pictures” in the background:
Jennifer Keller (Kitty) with co-star Anthony Cran (Richard)
I completed Day One of filming “A Simple Conversation”. What a day. My 7am call time came too quickly. I woke up and when I left the apartment I was greeted by brisk cold air. I drove to our lovely shoot location in Pasadena where the crew was setting up for our day of shooting. By the time it was my turn for make up it was 9am. After a turn in the make up chair, I hit up the craft table for a cup of hot tea. Soon it was time for rehearsal. We ran the scene and set up the camera shots until lunch. Instead of setting up a series of shots, the creative team decided to shoot the entire film in one continuous shot with a steady cam.
After lunch it was time to shoot!
I play Kitty Olsen, an uptight family oriented woman. My husband, Richard, is the man of the house, but has a terrible secret.
Today I had a callback for ”A Simple Conversation”, a short film produced at The American Film Institute (AFI).
I was called back for Kitty, a wife and mother who learns her husband has an awful secret. Today I read with two different actors who were called in for the role of my husband. Both actors were really great and gave 2 very different performances. It was nice to be able to play off of each actor’s unique performance.
Again, the director, Jon, gave us all sorts of different ideas to play with as we ran through the scene. What a fun audition (even though the material is heavy) I left the callback feeling really happy with my performance.
Today I had an audition for ”A Simple Conversation”, a short film produced at The American Film Institute (AFI). I was called in for a lead role, Kitty, a wife and mother who learns her husband has a terrible secret.
The director, Jon, and the producer, Kristina, were both so sweet. Jon was a very hands on director and we kept playing with different interpretations of the script. He would say, “let’s just play with this…”, which was great. It gave me a chance to try all sort of different tactics to get what I wanted in the scene. I walked out of the audition feeling really happy with my performance. What a good experience!
I took a Casting Director workshop with Erica Silverman (casting assoc in April Webster’s Office) last week and she called me in for a small role in a film that she is casting called “The Chicago 8″. The film is based on the Chicago 8 trials in the 1968. The Chicago 8, as they were called, were all tried in response to the riots at the 1968 Democratic Convention. I was called in for the role of the Court Reporter. A role with few lines, but lots of screen time.
I researched the Chicago 8 trials before the audition so I would be familiar. I even found a couple videos on You Tube, which were very helpful.
I was asked to dress for the era, so I arrived in a peacock blue sheath dress with a scarf in my hair. I was also wearing blue eyeshadow. I definitely felt like a little 60′s girl.
I received the sides the day before. There were 2 lines in the audition sides, which I memorized. Actor trick of the trade, even if you have the lines memorized, always hold the script. You may get nervous and lose your place. So, I brought my sides in and felt prepared. The audition was on tape for producers, so I did not see Erica again at the audition.
Overall, I felt like I did a good job. However, I looked at the shoot dates and it looks like the movie start filming the day after I fly back from Europe, so I would miss any wardrobe fittings or table reads of the script. So, we’ll just see what happens. I can’t worry about that.
Overall I am so thankful to have had this experience! Special Thanks to Erica Silverman for the audition!!!
