Audition for Jennifer

Today I auditioned for Robert Harling’s critically acclaimed play, “Steel Magnolias”. I read for the role of Shelby Eatenton Latcherie , and I felt great about my audition!  It would be such a treat to be cast in “Steel Magnolias”.  I just love this play and have auditioned for it a couple of times in the past.  I am hoping maybe this is my year to play Shelby.  I did, however, realize today at the audition that I have a conflict  with the show run.  I told the director that if she is interested in casting me as Shelby, I would work to change my schedule for the show.  I just hope that this conflict does not  lead to me not being cast in the show.  I will have to cross that bridge when I come to it.   As for now, I feel great about my audition.

Callback for “Wait Until Dark”

Tonight I had a great callback for “Wait Until Dark”.  “Wait Until Dark” is a wonderfully tense play about a blind woman name Susy who is terrorized by a trio of con artists while they search for a heroin stuffed doll they believe is in her apartment.

I was called back for the role of Susy.  There were a number of women called back for the role.  Each of us were paired with a scene partner. I read with a guy named Ben who was called in for the role of Mike and I felt like we worked well together.   After our audition, each of us was asked to stick around, which is always a good sign. 

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this one.  Though regardless, I felt great about my callback and that is what is most important!

Callback for “Wait Until Dark”

I am so excited to write that I have been invited back to Glendale Center Theatre for a callback for the thriller, “Wait Until Dark”!  The callback is Wednesday at 5 PM.  Keep me in your thoughts and prayers!!

Exciting News

Wow, I got a callback for “Wait Until Dark” at the Glendale Center Theatre!  I am so excited.   Especially since I felt just so/so about my originial audition.  Oh, I am so excited.

Good News!  I have been invited to audition for a production of “Wait Until Dark” at The Glendale Center Theatre.  Auditions are in 2 weeks.  Not only that, I have been invited to audition for the Actors Co-Op Theatre Company.  My good friend Tawny is a member.  Check back for updates!

Callback for Pygmalion

I was called back for two roles in “Pygmalion”, the play that the Tony Award Winning Musical, “My Fair Lady”, was based on.   I read for the roles of Eliza Doolittle and socialite Clara Hill.

Theater Audition on Tuesday

Today I auditioned for a theatrical production of “Pygmalion”, the original play that the Tony Award Winning Musical, “My Fair Lady”, was based on.  The Story: Professor Higgins is a scientist of phonetics, and Colonel Pickering is a linguist of Indian dialects. The first bets the other that he can, with his knowledge of phonetics, convince high London society that, in a matter of months, he will be able to transform the cockney speaking Covent Garden flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, into a woman as poised and well-spoken as a duchess.  I auditioned for the roles of Eliza Doolittle and socialite Clara Hill.

Oklahoma

Last night I saw my friend Ann Myers in “Oklahoma” at The Glendale Center Theater.  Ann played Ado Annie and was fantastic!  The entire production was great.  I highly recommend the show.

Everybody Get Footloose!

Last night I auditioned for a production of “Footloose” at The Glendale Center Theatre.  The musical is based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford. Rehearsals start June 1, 2009. Performs July 16–August 29, 2009.

I sang a little song from “The Magic Show”  that I used to sing for all my auditions in college.  I felt good about my audition, but the Director Tom Robinson, asked me several questions about my time conflict at the end of June, which leads me to believe it may prevent me from being cast, even though the show does not open until mid July.  We’ll see what happens, “Footloose” would be a treat to work on.

Audition for “Babes and Brides”

On Saturday I auditioned for a production of “Babes and Brides” by Eric Berlin.  “Babes and Brides” is a collection of One-Acts including  ”The Line That Picked Up 1000 Babes” and “Midnight Moonlight Wedding Chapel”.   The show will run for 6 weeks at the North Hollywood Actors Studio July 24 – August 29, 2009.

I felt really great about my audition!  I read for 3 roles in “The Line That Picked Up 1000 Babes” and even got a couple laughs, which is a good sign.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed for this one!

Callback for Proof

Good news, I received a callback for the role of Claire in “Proof” at The Sierra Madre Playhouse!  Bad news, due a scheduling conflict, I will not be cast in this production.  Feeling a little heartbroken, but lucky to have been invited to the callback.

Audition at The Sierra Madre Playhouse

 Tonight I auditioned for David Auburn’s Tony Award winning play, “Proof”,  at The Sierra Madre Playhouse.  I read for both the roles of Catherine and Claire, and I felt great about my audition!   This was my first time auditioning at the Playhouse, and I must say that the city of Sierra Madre is so cute and the theater is lovely.

It would be such a treat to be cast in “Proof”.  I just love this play, I first saw it on Broadway in 2004 with Anne Heche in the lead role.  I have also worked on a couple scenes in class at The Actors Space.  I did, however, realize tonight at the audition that I have a conflict right before the show opens.  It may lead to me not being cast in the show.  But, I’ll just have to cross that bridge when I come to it.  As for now, I feel great about my audition!

Audition at The Actors Forum Theater

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am looking to work on a play this summer.  And today I was invited to audition at The Actors Forum Theater in North Hollywood, CA.  I arrived for my audition and met the company director.  I used a monologue for this audition.  The Actors Forum Theater is looking for it’s next big project, and I am hoping they will keep me in mind!

Two Auditions on Friday!

On Friday I auditioned for 2 different plays that will be running at the The Hollywood Fight Club Theater on Sunset Blvd.  The first audition was for the role of Lt. Joanne Galloway in “A Few Good Men”.  The second audition was for the role of Elvira in an original production called ”Wiseguys”.  ”Wiseguys” is a tribute to the mob movies that everyone loves.  The scene I auditioned for was from Casino.

The Life on an Actress

Auditions have really slowed down in the past 2 weeks.  So goes “The Business”.  I popped in to see my agents at Commercials Unlimited the other day, and they are hoping that things will pick up again soon.  On a side note, I just want to say I really like my agents at CU!  They are so sweet and very supportive.  I am a lucky girl!

During this “downtime” I have been looking for new opportunities for acting, specifically in theater.  I would love to work on a play this summer, so I contacted several local theaters to see if anyone is holding auditions.  My hard work has seemed to pay off!  I have an audition for 2 plays at The Hollywood Fight Club: “A Few Good Men” and an original production called ”Wiseguys” .  I also have an audition for David Auburn’s “Proof” at The Sierra Madre Playhouse on Monday.  I am so excited to 3 play auditions within a couple of days.  I will keep you posted!

Agent Workshop

On Monday night I attended an Agent Workshop at The Stella Adler Theater in Hollywood, CA.  I met with Harold Auguenstein, a Theatrical Agent at Abrams Artists.  For this workshop I was given 5 minutes to meet Harold and to do my scene.  I felt really good about my audition and I hope that Abrams Artist is looking for my type!

Auditions, Auditions, Auditions!

Great news!  The auditions are rolling in this week!  What a blessing after a quiet summer!

On Tuesday I auditioned for the lead in a Sci-Fi Film.  On Friday I have an audition for the lead in a film at Cal State called “See Jane Date”.  And on Saturday, I will audition for the lead in a film at CLU called “Reminisce”, as well as for a production of “The Miracle Worker” at The Hayworth Theater.

Jennifer in “Sisters” at The Pasadena Christian Center

 Over the summer I worked on a heartwarming play called “Sisters” at The Pasadena Christian Center Theater.  “Sisters is a one-act play that tells the story of two estranged siblings who reunite due to illness.  Spanning twenty years, “Sisters” is told through live flashbacks that explore key events in the girl’s lives.
