New Headshots!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I had new headshots taken by the incredibly talented, Melissa Blue.  Melissa has a great way of capturing the essence of your personality with her shots. She also is great at lighting, which really makes all the difference.  I couldn’t be more happy with the different looks she captured.  I posted a few of my favs, but what do you think?  Which one is your favorite?

To check out Melissa’s work or to schedule a session with her, visit: http://melissabluephoto.com/

I also want to thank Lilia Ultreras for the flawless make up.  The right make up in a headshot changes everything. Trust me, I’ve had my share of shots over the years. Lilia has an incredible eye and she is simply a pleasure to be around.

I’m so grateful to have worked with both of these ladies!

Commercial Print CALLBACK

I had a print callback on Valentine’s Day for a Jeans Company.  I won’t say which one, but I will say the callback was held at 5th & Sunset Studios in Santa Monica.

I arrived early for my 10:45 AM callback.  I had my sweet pea in tow and my good friend Brittani came with me to take care of her while I auditioned.

The models were asked to wear a black swimsuit to the callback and upon arriving were given jeans to try on for the client’s approval.  Models who were approved were then photographed.

I was brought to the changing area with a group of 3 other girls. One girl was already back there finishing up.  The jeans were in all cuts, including high and low waists as well as bootcut and straightleg.

Now, let me just say something about the audition process.

It never ceases to amaze me the things that actors/models say on set. For my readers out there, do not EVER complain or badmouth a product on set or in an audition.  Especially when the clients are sitting right around the corner!

Two of the ladies around me were making smart comments about the high waist jeans and the leg cuts, but what they failed to understand that the callback was not about them, it was about finding the right model for the PRODUCT.  While the 20-some-year-old models may not choose that particular cut, the product is being marketed to a different demographic.  And it is RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL to trash the product on set.

I always worry that the client or casting director will overhear their conversations and think that I am among the trash-talkers in the situation.  I usually keep my mouth shut, distance myself from them or try to say something positive about the product.

So, the moral of the story, be GRATEFUL for every audition. Do NOT trash the product on set. And remember that not only are you auditioning for the current job, but for other opportunities with that same casting director down the line.

Now, back to my experience.

The first pair of jeans I was given was not a good fit for my body type.  The second pair was a different style and much better fit.  I was sent over to the casting director, Michael, and the photographer, Matt.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity. And I’m thankful to casting, and of course to my agents at KSR Models for the opportunity.

A Commercial AND Print Audition

Oh, what a week! Yesterday I had a commercial audition and today I had a print casting. And its only Wednesday. If only every week was like this one!

Yesterday my agent, Richie at CU, called to say that I had an audition at Ross Lacy Casting.  I am grateful for every opportunity to audition for this busy office.

I arrived early at 200 S. La Brea for the audition.   There were a number of people in the waiting room, which meant I would be there a while. No worries though, just part of the job.

I had the munchkin with me,  unfortunately. Generally I am able to find a babysitter for same day auditions, but occasionally I can not.  That’s part of the challenge of balancing my career and my personal life.  So we walked the waiting room and made new friends.  My munchkin is a really sweet girl.  She has to “talk” to everyone.  She has 14 words in her vocabulary (which is pretty good for a 13 month old), but she “babbles” complete conversations with everyone she meets.  I just have to laugh.

Soon it was my turn to audition. The commercial spot was great. This was for a “non-mom” spot, casual dress. I met a new casting associate, Michael, who was really cool.

All I can do is keep my fingers  crossed for a callback.

Today KSR Models sent me to Armstrong Casting for a commercial print casting call. I haven’t auditioned at this office since I was pregnant, so it was good to be back. I’ve always enjoyed auditioning at Armstrong Casting.  First the photographer takes the photos, then flips on a video camera and asks a couple of questions so they can get a better sense of who you are.

There were a number of moms in the waiting room with babies.  It was good to see that I’m not the only one trying to make it work.  And to those moms, I tip my figurative hat.  It’s not easy. But if you have a dream, you go for it.

Special thanks to Casting Directors Ross Lacy and Yvonne Armstrong for the auditions.

New Headshots for Jennifer

Last week I shot new photos with David Muller and I couldn’t be happier with the results.  With David’s eye for photography and amazing lighting combined with the awesome work of the make up artist, Kate Hollinshead,  I was able to achieve a variety of looks.

Here are a couple of my favorite shots. To view more of my new headshots, click on the “Headshots” Link at the top of the page.

Thanks!

Headshot Session with David Muller

A sneak peak of Jennifer Keller's headshot session

On Monday I had new headshots taken by photographer, David Muller.   In 2009, I shot with David and was really happy with my photos, so I scheduled with him again this time around.  I was specifically targeting several looks with this shoot: “Young Commercial Mom”, “Quirky Commercial Mom”, “Jeep Mom” (notice a theme?), a good dramatic look, a “Senator’s Wife” and a character from “MadMen”.  It’s amazing how you can change a look by adding glasses, jewelry and a change of background. I was able to achieve all these looks that way.

The shoot went really well. David is a gifted photographer.  I also scheduled with make-up artist, Kate, who not only did my make up in 2009, but also for the Tidy Cat Commercial I worked on in 2008.  She is one of the best around and I was thrilled with her work.

I will post photos online as soon as possible.

Another Print Audition at Armstrong Casting

Today I had a Print Audition at Armstrong Casting in Hollywood.  The audition was for Tempur-Pedic, looking  for pregnant women wearing shorts and a tank.  Today was cool and rainy in Los Angeles, so I waited to change into my audition clothes until I arrived at the Casting Office.  I wore a rosy pink tank and white shorts for the audition.

I have been invited to audition for several print castings at Armstrong Casting in the last year and I’ve always enjoy the experience.  First the photographer takes a couple photos, then they flip on a video camera and ask a couple questions so they can get a better sense of who you are.

Special thanks to Casting Director Yvonne Armstrong for the audition.

Print Audition at Armstrong Casting

Today I had a Print Audition at Armstrong Casting in Hollywood.  The product was Microsoft and the call was for pregnant women dressed in green.  I looked through my closet and I did not have anything green to wear for the audition.  But I do have a greenish, teal dress so I decided to wear that to the audition.

There were so many cute pregnant girls in the waiting room.  What a tough decision for casting!

Two Print Auditions on Friday

KSR Models sent me to a Print Campaign Casting at Armstrong Casting in Hollywood.  The wardrobe was upscale casual and I wore black pants with a fitted denim 1 button jacket.

I was invited to audition for several print castings at Armstrong Casting last year and I’ve always enjoy the experience.  First the photographer takes a couple of photos, then they flip on a video camera and ask a couple of questions so they can get a better sense of who you are.

As I left Armstrong Casting I received another call from KSR.  They had a straight to callback print audition for me at Crash Casting and they were looking for real couples, so they asked if my husband would go as well.  Oh, and we had to be in Santa Monica by 3:30 PM.  The time was 2:30PM.

So, I called my husband to see if he was interested. He is not an actor, but after many of engagement and wedding photo shoots, he said he would try it out.  So I swung by our apartment and picked him up and we braved the afternoon traffic down the 405 to Santa Monica.  We made it just in time, found the studio at 525 Broadway.  After we arrived, we took a couple of photos together, spoke to the director and client, and then were released.

Special thanks to my print agents at KSR and Casting Directors at Armstrong Casting and Crash Casting.

Lynnina Swim Wear

I booked a commercial print assignment for Lynnina Swim Wear and the shoot day was on Sunday in Pacific Palisades, CA.  I arrived 15 minutes early for my call time and admired the beautiful home that we were shooting in.  Once inside, I was greeted by Owner/Designer of Lynnina Swimwear, Lynn Werner. Lynn is very nice and made me feel right at home.  She whisked me to hair and make up where I met the other 2 models, Hannah and Danielle, who were also repped by KSR Models.  What a nice treat for my agents.

After I finished in hair and make up, I was taken to wardrobe where I was given my first swimsuit for photos.  I also wore 3 other suits in different styles and colors.  I like the Lynnina line.  The shorts were very comfortable and flattering and a nice balance to the bikini tops.

Jennifer with Lynnina Swimwear Designer/Owner Lynn Werner

Everyone was so kind on set.  Lynn had recruited most of her family to participate in the shoot, both on camera and behind the scenes.  I thought this was really neat.  It made me miss my family in Ohio.

The weather was projected to be a little on the cool side the day of the shoot, so I had brought a cozy sweater, extra blanket and my warm boots.  Luckily it was sunny even though a little cool.  I wore my sweater and boots in between takes.

Overall it was a wonderful experience.  Special thanks to Lynn Werner for choosing me to be a part of her website.  And make sure you check out the Lynnina Swim Line online at http://www.lynnina.com/.  The website will be available in June 2010.

Commercial Print Audition

Today I had a commercial print audition for Tori Silvera Bush at Bad Girls Casting (great name, right?).  Today’s spot was for Lynnina Swim Wear.

I have to tell you, I was nervous about this one.  Yes, I used to compete in pageants, but that was a couple years ago.  I actually ran out and bought a new swimsuit for the audition, a black two piece suit with boy shorts.

The audition was at 6660 Santa Monica Blvd, a casting facility where I have auditioned before.  I signed in and recognized the Casting Associate, Ian, right away.   He took me into the audition room where I met the casting director and the client.  Once in the room, the audition was on camera.   They asked me to try on a swimsuit with a tankini top and shorts for bottoms.  I left the room to put on the new swimsuit, then returned for a new shot on camera.

Thanks to KSR Models for sending me out and to Casting Director Tori Silvera Bush for calling me in!

Commercial Print Audition

Yesterday KSR Models sent me to Beachwood Studios for a print casting.  The Print Campaign was for Levi’s Jeans. I arrived at the studio wearing jeans and high heels, as asked for in the breakdown.  I wore light make-up and my hair down, which looked great on this particular day.

I checked in with Rupert, who was very nice.  There was not wait and I quickly met the photographer and assistant to took my measurements.  The photographer instructed me to pose for the audition and after a couple quick shots, I was released.

Co-Star Audition for Jennifer

Wow! What an exciting day!

Today I had my first TV co-star audition!  I was called in by Kendra Castleberry at Donna Rosenstein Casting for a role in “Castle”.  Great show!  I met Kendra at a 3 workshop at AIA Studios last fall.  I am so excited about today’s audition!

Wondering what a c0-star role is?  A co-star is a supporting character in one episode of a TV Show.  A co-star can be one line, one scene with a series regular, or even a couple scenes with one or two lines in each. Every show is different.

Back to the audition. I prepared the sides and arrived at the casting office 10 minutes before my audition.  There were a number of blonde girls my age who were called in for the role.  I walked by a couple leaving as I walked into the building and I rode the elevator up with another girl, who was very nice.  There wasn’t a bathroom nearby and she lent me her compact mirror for a last-minute touch up.

Kendra walked out of the audition room to check off the next name on the list.  I greeted her with a “good morning” and she said hello back as she asked the next girl to join her in the audition room.  Before I knew it, it was my turn.  I walked in and greeting Angela Scalleta, the casting associate, who was behind the camera.  I have also taken a workshop with Angela at AIA.  The audition was quick.  Kendra directed me in another take and I left feeling like I had given her what she has asked for.

What a thrill.  Thank you Kendra Castleberry so much for the opportunity to audition for you.  It was such a treat!

I also had a Print Audition today. Aurora at KSR Models sent me to Comcast audition.  They are looking for a model from the back of the head.  I arrived at the studio and the photographer took a couple quick pictures.

What a great day!

Commercial Print Callback

Today I had a callback for a commercial print campaign for US Cellular at Armstrong Casting.

I arrived for the callback dressed in the same outfit I wore to the original audition, khakis and a cardigan.  I saw there were a variety of looks in the room, blondes, brunettes, ethnicities, but I had the youngest look there-which could be a disadvantage since the campaign is calling for a “young mom”.

When it was my turn for the callback, I met the client and had a my photo taken by the photographer. Lastly, as in the original audition, they flipped on a video camera and asked me a couple questions so they could get a better sense of who I am.

Special thanks to Yvonne Armstrong for the callback.

Commercial Callback AND Print Audition!

Oh what a day!  I had both a callback and a print casting. Oh, the life of an actress at it’s best!

Richie at CU called this morning to say that I had been called back for the CBS Promo!  How exciting!  Though, then I realized that I had a print casting at nearly the same time.  I called and e-mailed Aurora at KSR Models to see if I could go to the print casting early, and she said that I could go anytime between 1:30 PM and 5 PM.  What a relief.

I arrived at 200 S. La Brea for the call back at Ross Lacy Casting.  I primped in the bathroom for a couple minutes and then signed in.  I was paired with 3 different people for the audition and was in the last group for this promo.

Afterwards I jumped in the car and headed to Armstrong Casting today for a print casting.  The Print Campaign was for US Cellular.   The attire: young, hip mom.

I’ve been invited to print castings at Armstrong Casting a couple times this year and I always enjoy the experience.  First the photographer takes a couple photos, then they flip on a video camera and ask a couple questions so they can get a better sense of who you are.

Special thanks to Casting Directors Ross Lacy and Yvonne Armstrong for the auditions.

Print Audition for Jennifer

Aurora at KSR Models sent me to Katie Taylor Casting for a print casting.  The Print Campaign is for National Rent-A-Car. The audition was held at 201 Ocean Park Casting Studio.

This is my first time auditioning for Katie Taylor, so I was thrilled to receive the call.  The audition was the same day as my last day of filming for “A Simple Conversation”, but Aurora gave me a range time and asked me if I could make it before 6PM.  Luckily I was able to work it out.  I finished my last shots for “A Simple Conversation” and rushed over to Santa Monica for the casting.

The Casting notice said not black and white, so I arrived wearing a cute red shirt with polk-a-dot sleeves.   There were a number of girls of different ages and with different looks.  When it was my turn, I met the photographer and posed for a  couple of photos.  Lets hope they are looking for a blonde!

Print Audition for Jennifer

On Friday KSR Models sent me to Beachwood Studio for a print casting.  The Print Campaign is for a Pharmaceutical Company looking for bare shoulders, back, arms and legs shots.  I was surprised when I read the breakdown because it called for an age group of 37-42 and I am in my 20’s.  But my agents at KSR are pros and I never question their judgement.  I trust KSR and am happy to have an audition.

When I arrived at the studio, several of the women who were also there for the audition looked at me like I was in the wrong place.  I checked in with Robin, who was very nice.  After a bit of a wait, I met the photographer, Richard.  I wore a strapless sundress so he could easily photograph my shoulders, arms and legs.   Richard was very nice and I felt very comfortable working with him.

In great shape. Fresh. Switched on with great energy.”

I arrived at Broad-Cast wearing a green shirt and white pants.  When it was my turn,  Hunter, one of the casting associates, called me into the room for photos.   He took  a variety of photos, close up, full length and 3/4 quarter.

New Headshots/Zed Shots for Jennifer Keller!

Jennifer Keller poses for David Muller in "athleticware"

Jennifer Keller poses for David Muller in "athletic attire"

On Tuesday I had new shots taken by David Muller.  KSR Models asked for a number of looks for a Zed Card, including an Athletic, Young Mom, Business and Beauty look.  I also had a couple headshots taken, specifically a dramatic shot and a “girl next door” shot.

I had a lot of fun at the shoot.  David is a great photographer.  I have admired his work for several months, and am glad I was finally able to schedule a session with him.  And the make-up artist, Katie, was such a doll.  Coincidentally enough, she had been one of the make-up artists at the Tidy Cat Commercial shoot!  I recognized her right away.  Katie and I chatted about weddings and her family in England which worked on my hair and make-up.

I should receive my photos by the end of the week!  I can’t wait!

Baby Bisou Photo Shoot

I just received a copy of the photos from the Baby Bisou Photo Shoot and they were too cute not to share!  The babies were adorable and Baby Bisou owner, Kathleen Kubricky, is a sweetie.
